Nuance announces next-generation Swype keyboard

Swype has been relatively quiet since it was acquired by Nuance Communications, but have now come out of the woodwork to release the next-generation Swype Keyboard. The update promises to take the Swype keyboard to the next level, with better word prediction, the addition of a personal dictionary, support for 55 different languages, and four input modalities.

The biggest innovation with the current Swype keyboard comes via what Nuance is calling a "living keyboard," a keyboard that learns your vocabulary and habits for insanely accurate word prediction. Like SwiftKey style word prediction, plus the benefits of a swipe keyboard. If it works as advertised, this could be the perfect mobile keyboard.

The updated Swype will be made available to OEMs soon, meaning the updated Swype should make its way to devices in the next few months. If you absolutely have to check out the updated Swype, you can head to Swype's beta page to give it a test drive.

If you do check out the new Swype, let us know what you think in the comments.
