Samsung says Android 4.1 coming soon to Galaxy S III, Note 10.1

Samsung's Unpacked event at IFA 2012 isn't all about new devices. Amongst the announcement of the Note II and Galaxy Camera, the Galaxy S III and Note 10.1 both got a mention in regards to when they'll be updated to Android 4.1, Jelly Bean.

There's still no exact date, but during Samsung's presentation it was said that the Galaxy S III and Note 10.1 will be updated "very soon." There was no verbal mention of the original Note, but it did appear on the slide in the background when the update was being discussed.

So just how long until "very soon"? Considering we've already seen fully functional Jelly Bean builds for the S III, we can't imagine it's far off. Maybe even before the first day of fall.

Samsung is doing a great job keeping the Galaxy S III fresh in everyone's mind. Some new paint jobs and an update to Jelly Bean will keep the S III as one of the top smartphones to consider for the rest of the year. It's great to hear about the Note 10.1 being updated so soon as well.
