Verizon Droid Razr M launching September 13 for $99

Announced alongside the Droid Razr HD and Droid Razr HD Maxx this afternoon, the Droid Razr M is Motorola's attempt at low-cost Android device that doesn't sacrifice specs to get there.

With a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera, Verizon LTE, global roaming capabilities, NFC and Android 4.0, the Razr M is identical to the Razr HD in specs, except for the display. Instead of a 4.7-inch 720p Super AMOLED HD display, the Razr M comes with a 4.3-inch "edge-to-edge" qHD display. By taking the display down a notch size and resolution wise, Motorola and Verizon have managed to get the Razr M down to as low as $99 on a new two-year contract.

Anyone content with the Razr M's 4.3-inch display won't have to wait long to grab the device, as Verizon has already opened pre-orders, with an official release date of September 13th. The developer edition, featuring an unlockable bootloader, has been put up for preorder as well, but will cose you a pretty penny at $550. No word yet on when the international non-Droid branded Razr M will be available.

What do you think of Motorola's new Razr devices? Does the company have a portfolio of hits on its hands, or were you hoping for more?
